Description
This activity provides an exciting space-themed learning experi- ence by inviting students to explore our solar system while engag- ing with single digit numbers from 0 to 9. Young learners will have the option to either trace each number with their fingers, or use a cutout rocket ship to navigate through the planets and stars in our solar system. Tracing each number by hand allows for practice of proper number formation and reinforce numerical recognition skills, while using the cutout rocket enhances fine motor skills.
What’s Included:
- 10 planet-themed number mats representing numbers 0-9
How to use:
- Print out each number mat.
- If using the rocket ship, print out this page and cut out the object.
- Show your student how to trace each number with their finger or the rocket, following the direction shown in the diagram on the top right corner of each mat.
This activity has been created with NASA’s Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN).
